Bubble baths and pillow fights for everyone!

   Oh, if only we could all be Audrey Hepburn for a day! At $3500 a pop, maybe this recycled bathtub sofa isn't the cheapest way to live out my Breakfast at Tiffany's fantasy but a girl can dream, right? I love the all-white feel and the obvious re-purposing of a junkyard object. Once I win the lottery you can bet this will be jazzing up my living room covered in funky, colorful and totally organic pillows from 2modern.
     But for now, I'll take away the green lesson that it's a great idea to purchase things in a color you can live with for awhile and then spice it up with accessories as your mood changes. I think Audrey would be proud!

Eco Chic

    

     Maria Yee designs a wide variety of furnishings, and better yet it’s all done using ecologically responsible materials.  The company prides itself on eco-luxury.  Doesn’t that sound lovely?  And everything is put together without screws or nails with seems a very old-school and skilled way to make furniture.

These pieces particularly caught my wantful eye:

     This sofa from the Mendocino collection has a laid back cool feeling that would lend a great vibe to any room.  I may not be cool enough for such a thing, but I wouldn’t mind trying to live up to it.

This bamboo nightstand from the Carmel collection is such a terrific color!  And that shape is perfect.

Half the bike it used to be

These uber-cool pieces from bike furniture are so creative! I can see one of the chairs fitting wonderfully in a little boy's room and talk about a planet-saver. All pieces are made from old bike parts that would have otherwise been banished to a landfill. You don't get more green than this!

Destructive Tendencies

So many of Studio 1 a.m. designs are fantastic but this creative take on a coffee table (This table will self destruct) really caught my eye.  Each piece is made of slab concrete organized into pixels.  As new tables are ordered, another pixel will be removed from the design - literally self-destructing. Once the table loses function they will stop producing it, leaving behind a limited edition series of completely unique art - I love the cheekiness of this play on our society's consumption.
