Tired of the Sunday times cluttering your coffee table? It's so easy to turn that trash-bound paper into a beautiful (and free!) wall treatment. Caroline Colom Vasquez
While in the middle of my daily Etsy browsing (really, there should be some sort of support group for those of us who are obsessed with that site!) I ran across the beautiful designs of artist Caroline Colom Vasquez of Paloma's Nest. Her work is lovely and delicate while her philosophy is so in line with Design^Sprout readers. Below, she's gracefully agreed to share with us her creative process.
"Each piece is designed and hand-crafted in my home studio in
Austin, Texas, by me, with care, pride, and passion. I use only all
natural materials including fine clays, wood, paper, and cloth.
The studio and my home are powered 100% by Renewable Wind Energy. I use
recycled and recyclable paper products in our pieces and in my packaging whenever possible.
My inspiration lies in the purity of the materials that I use, and the idea that something so simple can be so bold."
"My wooden stationery and gift tags/place cards are made of wood cut
from scrap lumber that would otherwise be discarded by the saw mills.
Since they are a pure natural material, they are totally biodegradable."
"My ceramic tiny text bowls are made from white earthenware clay; I
intentionally choose to not glaze these decorative pieces, as I love
the natural tactile feeling of an unglazed clay. The final products are
finished in a water-based sealant to prevent smudging/ soiling/
discoloration. By adding text, I give written ideas, feelings, and daydreams a place to rest."

Yes! My thoughts exactly. There is something so endearing about an item once you've salvaged it! Found via Design is Mine and produced by Pedlars out of London, this happy print has a great message and is handmade using traditional wood-block printing techniques, then framed locally. Each one is completely unique and would brighten up any space!
I definitely have a thing for cameos lately - although they're all over the place I love their simplicity and they'd be so easy to make yourself. These custom, digital, pregnancy cameos from SimpleSilhouettes on Etsy are totally creative and unique. What a great shower present!
